Higher education is anchored by Cabrillo College, whose main campus sits in Aptos on Soquel Drive and enrolls roughly 9,700 students per term, offering transfer pathways to the University of California and California State University systems. The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park offers thousands of acres of redwood forest with hiking and mountain-biking trails, including routes to the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake epicenter.
